A private venture by the Ford Motor Corporation, the vehicle was adopted by the Canadian Army in 1968 and the Dutch Army in 1966.
The Canadians call it the Lynx, although its official title is the M113 Command and Recce Vehicle.
In Canadian sevice, it is armed with 0.50" and 0.30" Browning machine guns.
