The A9 was the first of the `Modern tanks entering service in the late 1930's. Although it was almost obsolete by 1939, it still had the excellent 2pdr gun as well as a formidable machine gun armament. The armour was very poor however.
Many were tank to France with the first armoured division, more served in North Africa and Greece.
