Japan’s first amphibious tank! The tank was generally water-tight, hollow pontoons were placed on the glacis plate and rear decking. The front pontoon was divided into 8 compartments to minimise flood and shell-fire damage. The floatation devices were detached once ashore from a release device inside the tank. The Type 2 could also be launched from the deck of submarines.
The flotation devices are supplied separately, enabling it to be built either with or without them.
