HMS Invincible

This is the Invincible in 1982, at the time of the Falklands War.  Built originally as an ASW vessel, carrying helicopters, she completed trials in 1979 and joined the Fleet in 1981.  The design proved itself in the Falklands War of 1982.
Phalanx was fitted as standard to HMS Illustrious, who joined her sister in the South Atlantic in August 1982, after the defeat of the Argentine forces, but, that will be a different model!
