Built by the White Motor Company, the M3 Scout Car’s open-topped hull and distinctive skate rail for a mounted machine gun made it instantly recognisable. Used for reconnaissance, as a command vehicle, and even as an improvised anti-tank gun tractor, its chassis and body also formed the direct basis for the far more numerous M3 half-track family that followed it into production.
