Mercedes Benz LR4500

£6.90

Description

The L4500 was already Germany’s standard heavy truck when a shortage of proper cross-country mobility on the Eastern Front’s mud and snow prompted the “R” conversion: replacing the rear wheels with a half-track running gear borrowed from the Panzer II. Nicknamed “Maultier” (Mule) like the rest of this half-tracked truck family, it kept supply columns moving through terrain that would have stopped a conventional wheeled truck dead.
