Built in Canada on a Ram tank chassis specifically to mount the 25-pounder gun, the Sexton was everything the improvised Bishop had never managed to be – genuinely mobile, reasonably protected, and built in real numbers. It became the standard British self-propelled field gun from 1943 onward, giving armoured divisions artillery support that could actually keep pace with them.
